Being a lover of gardening, nature and all creatures great and small, I always wanted to keep hens. My first experience of hen keeping was moving to a house with a garden, many years ago. I tried very hard to gain the necessary experience by reading as many books as possible, but learning was quite difficult and nothing beats hands on experience, which you can not get until you have your chickens.
After several years down the road and having had several breeds of hens and ducks to this day I still find my girls amusing, with current production methods I am pleased to have my own produce as well as the bugs they eat from the garden and the manure for my compost heap, which in turn feeds my vegetables.
Having experienced the steep learing curve required to keep chickens I decided to help others understand the expensive and distressing pitfalls, so Chicken School was created. This popular course is offered as a one to one or a partner/family and my booklet compliments this course. We actively encourage the whole household to attend. I have run courses for the novice and experienced chicken keeper(s) and helped out schools with chicks after hatching. I also run a Chicken School class at our local College.
The Chicken School course and booklet will help you on your road to learning about chickens and the joy they can bring to the back yard chicken keeper. Designed to assist the novice chicken keeper with everyday chicken requirements to ensure happy, healthy pets and owner satisfaction.
